Winters leads YHC with 27 points as Owls hold off Mountain Lions
KENNESAW, Ga. | Carly Winters scored 27 points to lead Young Harris College as Kennesaw State University held off the Mountain Lions in a 76-66 women's basketball game Thursday (Feb. 4) evening at the KSU Convocation Center.
The NCAA Division I Owls improved to 6-7, while the contest was an exhibition for the Division II Mountain Lions.

Winters would have set a career-high for points with 27 if the game was not an exhibition for the Mountain Lions. The Owls had trouble stopping her as she was 9-of-11 from the field, including a perfect 7-of-7 on three-point shooting.
Young Harris jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the game as Winters stroked a three and Niaya White converted a layup. Kennesaw State responded with a 15-5 run to open up a 15-10 lead late in the first quarter.
The Owls pushed their lead out to 11 points (29-18), before YHC used a 6-0 run to cut the margin to five (29-24) after a White layup with 3:45 left before the half .
KSU took its largest lead - 13 points (58-45) - in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, but the Mountain Lions pulled within five (71-66) after Winters connected on her final three-point shot of the game with 88 seconds left.
Lola Lovitt added 14 points for the Mountain Lions, while Thalia Carter added 10 points. White added eight points and seven rebounds.
Amani Johnson led Kennesaw State with 22 points, while Stacie Jones added 19 points and nine rebounds. Jah'che Whitfield posted 11 points and nine rebounds. Bre'lyn Snipes also pulled down nine rebounds while scoring nine points.
Kennesaw State outrebounded the Mountain Lions 44-23.
Young Harris scored 25 points off 23 KSU turnovers.
