I'm going to mention one last thing. And this is something I've felt strongly about for a long time -- it has nothing to do with yesterdays game.
I HATE it when coaches call a time out on the last posession of the game. Sure, you get to set up your offense -- but the other team also gets to set up their defense. And I believe an unstructured offense has the advantage over an unstructured defense. But most coaches are going to call the time out. I believe that is more a function of the coach wanting to be in control than anything else.
When I coached middle schoolers I never made that time out call. If 8th graders are smart enough to know what to do -- then college players are also.
I'll give credit to AAR for at least admitting that the time out was not the best call to make and explaining his reasoning. It certainly didn't help yesterday.
