Can KSU beat a really good D2 team? (They made the Tourney the last 7 years.)
I was curious if Queens ran everybody off and hit the portal or stuck with what they had last year so I compared the rosters from 2022-223 to 2021-22.
Of the 14 players on this years roster 9 were returnees, 4 were freshman, and the last was a JUCO transfer.
Their top 7 scorers this year were on the team last year.
The 9 returning players have scored 89.4% of this years points. The freshman 2.7%. The JUCO transfer (who has started 10 of their 15 games) has contributed 7.9% (6.3 ppg).
I did not look to see what happened to the 6 players on last years team that did not return. I noted that 4 were freshman and 1 each sophmore and junior.
The coaching staff was another story. In what I found interesting, last years Associate Head Coach was promoted to Head Coach. He got rid of everyone else from last years coaching staff. (Note - don't feel bad aabout last years Head Coach. He landed the Head Coach position at D1 Univ Wisconsn - Milwaukee.)
I'm impressed with their approach and results.
