Thursday night the Owls take on last year's ASUN tourney champs, the Bellarmine Knights, and then Saturday face the Colonels of EKU.
The Knights have not lived up to expectations this year, they lost their 3 biggest scorers from last year's team and 2 of their regular players early season have not checked into a game in conference play (injuries?). I watched them play a little (less than a half) this year and they were running their plays to perfection; except they did not finish with consistency. It just looked like they didn't have the talent they had last year most notably no Dylan Penn, CJ Fleming and Ethan Claycomb from last year's squad.
Still, they are a well-coached and disciplined squad, and they will be dangerous at home. At 5-5 in conference play they have beaten EKU and embarrassed FGCU by handing them 20-point loss.
EKU with only 3 losses in the ASUN remains in 3rd place and will be tough on their home floor, where they are riding a 9-game winning streak. They are the only ASUN team to beat Liberty this year. Their losses are to KSU, Lipscomb and Bellarmine.
Another tough trip for the Owls, but they have been taking care of business so far, so I am looking forward to seeing some good things happen on the hardwoods this weekend.
