Question for moderators. As I was researching the roster when owlsportscontent brought this topic up, I noticed there isn’t a single sophomore WR but they signed several the year before. They had true freshman WRs on the roster last year. There aren’t any redshirt freshman either. What happened to all those guys? Did they move over to DB or other position group? All of them? It’s the only position group that doesn’t have a sophomore. Very strange. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before on a college roster.

OwlHowl69 Looking through the history on KSUOwlHowl.com... it doesn't look like there were many recruited in 2022 for some reason. If you look at the 2021 Class, it looks like a very poor class on paper and could be part of why we're set back right now. Keep in mind, I think this is the COVID class with much less scouting and normal protocols. You have the Benyards, Chance Gamble, Deontre Morrris, Tykeem Wallace, Jerrod Woods and that's about it.

CJ Parker was signed in 2022 and put on the roster but removed before last season. I'm not sure what happened though.

Rowan Darnell of 2022 was moved from WR to TE this year for the new offense.

KingOwl you are correct. Didn’t realize the official site had last years roster online. Just looked and there was only 1 true freshman WR on roster last year. Just had never seen a position group without one player on a roster/class. But makes sense a little with the scheme they were running in the past.

“Your best recruiting/positive info comes from what your current players say and your worst is from current players say”. Hope all these kids understand “the plan” and are helping bring in some more dogs. If not 😳. Let’s hope everyone from the inside is on same page and the kids are at least lying a little to the recruits. Haha. Gotta have some more dogs to compete at FBS level. Lord knows the facilities won’t help sway them our direction. Quick online search of CUSA facilities compared to KSU shows fighting an uphill battle already. Plan I see for upgrades are encouraging but they need to break ground now. Like it or not, recruits at FBS level care about that stuff. Coach Bo is the guy to get it going! No doubt. He's got my support! Proven track record starting from scratch and is genuinely one of the good guys.

Kennesaw State is pushing heavily for DL OJ Alexander and OL/DL Jon Faletra with them posting Owls stuff every week.

The 3rd commit in the 2024 class becomes Allatoona K/P Gray Kelley as he commits to the Owls. This season he is 4/5 on FGs with a long of 46, 8/8 on PATs and has 33 punts 1276 yds (38.7 AVG) with a long of 60

Also want to add that I expect Kennesaw State to bring in a lot of transfers. I suspect they add depth to the trenches, a veteran QB to challenge Bryson for the starting QB job, hopefully a WR1. Defense is better set up so I would expect a few minor depth moves with the likelihood that those dudes compete for a starting spot. RB is the only position I see like no shot that Kennesaw State adds impact transfer as Benyard and Benefield are 1 2 punch with guys like Diggs and Clemons as solid depth pieces. TE is the hardest Position to predict as most are converted RBs and OL. With that being said I expect a veteran TE to be brought in to help mentor guys like Carson Kent among others. As we learn more I’ll update but right now all I can do is update and predict based off the crumbs of information that trickle out.

Better bring in a transfer QB and some OL! Zero passing yards yesterday is something I’ve never seen in a college football game…..not sure I even remember a high school game with zero passing yards. Lincoln was absolutely awful and KSU should have been able to run and pass at will. Lincoln would have a hard time stopping a good high school team. Lack of passing game with current QBs isn’t something that will be fun to watch (or play) as the Owls move up to FBS. They will get slaughtered

OwlHowl69 I've seen a few different option teams do it, including GT a few years ago..However, those were mostly on purpose.. I suppose ours was also on purpose, since we only tried 6 times.

Bryson obviously has a rocket arm, but he needs work on touch..To add, the play calling didn't help. IMO, with a young QB, a couple of short swing passes on the 1st drive should have been part of the plan..

All in all, while I know we are limited, Klenakis hasn't done a very good job of helping these guys get comfortable in the offense..Every game looks like the 1st game in a new scheme.

Lots of great 3 year QB's out there. Bring in some transfers at QB, OL, and WR. Changing the offensive means changing the players you recruited for your triple option.

Kennesaw State football recruiting is speeding up with the main focus being JUCO recruiting. Currently Owls have 3 commits in Meadowcreek HS OL Isaac Cannizzaro (6-4 270), Seminole County HS OL Garrett Landing (6-4 290) and Allatoona HS K Gray Kelley (6-1 190). With Owls trying to get up to 85 scholarships in 2024. I expect the Owls to take 25-30 in this class. Recent Owls offers include Garden City CC OL Kaliem Croswell (6-4 300), Hutchinson CC LB/EDGE Daniel Brown (6-1 240), Helena HS RB Jordan Washington (6-1 210), Mississippi Gulf Coast CC OL Greg Nunnery (6-5 310) Southern Miss commit, Mississippi Gulf Coast CC OL Jaekwon Bouldin (6-7 350), Itawamba CC OL Rodney Newsom (6-3 300), South Walton HS WR Jaden Robinson (6-3 190) and Hutchinson CC DT Adam Lamar (6-3 292). Kennesaw State will also will look to add in the portal as well. Every position besides RB could use upgrades so I am prepared for transfers nearly everywhere. Look forward to seeing how the first FBS class pans out.
