KSU closes out their non conference slate Friday Dec 29 against Indiana.

Neither one of these teams can shoot the 3.

KSU is 269/351 in D1 3 point shooting percentage.
Indiana is even worse at 286/351 in D1 shooting percentage.

So how do the teams handle this inability to shoot the 3?

KSU continues to let it rip and is 6th in DI 3 point attempts per game.
Indiana recognizes that they can't shoot the 3 and is 350/351 in 3 point attempts per game.

BurialGround Analytics has taught coaches to emphasise the 3 as the expected value of a 3 is greater than the expected value of a 2. To keep the math simple, if a team shoots 40% from 3 and 50% from 2 the expected value of a 3 is 20% GREATER than the expected value of a 2.

YTD, however, the expected value of every 3 KSU shoots is 20% LESS than the expected value of a 2.

Pettway could learn from Lew and Jimmy who had Willy Kouassi shoot exactly zero 3's during his time at KSU. Taking a math course probably wouldn't hurt either.

Both teams are off until the game, so the computer stats shouldn't change much.

Massey has Indiana a 14 point favorite; Pomeroy has them a 15 point favorite.

NCAA NET ranks Indiana 101 and KSU 182.

All 3 continue to have Lipscomb ranked 1 and KSU ranked 2 in the ASun.

Rough finish with Robinson out and foul trouble. Defense needs to be better but this team can definitely run the table in the ASUN.

Kmase14 Masseys computer says KSU loses road games to Lipscomb, FGCU, and Stetson. His computer says Lipscomb is a better team, but the other 2 losses are becasue of the mythical home court advantage.

Jusaun Holt has played in 3 games. He is 8-15 in 3-point shots (53.3%)

The next highest % among the players (with 10 3-point attempts or more) is Quincy at 39%.

Also note that Holts 3-point percentage at Georgia last season was 25.5% and at Alabama the season before was 10.5%. Based on his stats from his 2 previous seasons, I wasn't expecting him to be a big scorer. I am pleasantly surprised.

Wingman small sample size thus far, but watching him out there with his defense and shooting capabilities I feel like he’s going to move into the starting lineup at some point. And if not, he’ll consistently get top 5 min coming off the bench.
