I think we should all circle the 9th on our calendar, this could be our chance for a W. No matter how we limp into the 9th someone must leave the game with a win. ESPN had this nice blurb posted on Sunday looking at the last remaining winless teams and 2 of the 3 teams go head to head on the 9th.
"Trending down: Winless seasons
We entered Week 5 with just seven winless teams remaining, and that number was cut significantly as Miami (Ohio), Old Dominion, New Mexico and Wyoming all nabbed wins on Saturday.
That leaves three teams without a win -- UTEP, Kent State and Kennesaw State.
If we're betting on a favorite to get to 0-12, we're going with Kennesaw State, which lost to FCS UT-Martin on Saturday 24-13. For a team whose roster is just people who got bored while stuck in Atlanta traffic, this isn't entirely surprising. All four of KSU's losses have been by double digits thus far, the Owls have yet to top 16 points in a game, and the best chance for a W left on their schedule is fellow winless team UTEP on Nov. 9."
I mainly lurk in the shadows reading everyone’s post but I guess its my turn to share my opinion on the status of the program.
-puts on tinfoil hat
I think the AD is hoarding funds for a hiring splash either this season or next season. Taking the step into FBS is no easy process and most teams take a few years to get up to speed with the higher talent level. It would be a hard sell getting coaches to take a job where the first few years are setup to have growing pains. KUS gets to play the good guy and stay loyal to the Bo who has gotten us to where we are wile also saving on salary. Worst case we save some money for a season or two and best case he puts something together and surprises us all. Well… as we can tell from the season so far it is option A and we are saving money. The saving money approach can also be applied to the OC hiring where we hired from within which is the cheaper option.
I also think the option offense is not totally bead but our FCS version is dead. Gone are the days of attempting 2 passes in an entire game. We have to be able to keep the defense honest and hit some passes to keep the ball moving. Not sure if we are giving out popcorn as a pre-game snack but passes are hitting receivers in the hands, and they are dropping them like the ball is covered in butter.
Don’t get me wrong Ill be tailgating at every game even if we are 0-12 but it kills me seeing attendance dwindle every game. We have too much talent to be performing this bad.
