MBB Conference Play Week 6

The second half of our two week home stand starts tomorrow.

Thurs 7:00 PM Vs. Western Kentucky (Massey 124, Net 123)
Sat 5:00 PM Vs. MTSU (Massey 118, Net 108)

We had a bad time vs. WKU and were competitive vs. MTSU. I feel like a split would be fine and a little expected, 2-0 would be huge, and 0-2 would be pretty unfortunate.

I think we can beat either of these teams at home. Its been frustrating the last couple of weeks with how bad our 3pt% has been. We're getting some good looks and just can't hit. Hopefully we move back toward an average performance from beyond the arc this week. I've still heard no update on Weir.

Wingman

Kmase14 After watching the close game at MTSU, I thought that was a team we could beat at home. A sweep would be great, but this team can be inconsistent so you don’t know what we’ll see.

When Cottle a Wooley both have a good scoring game, the Owls are hard to beat.

After last nights action Massey has changed the outcome of the the MTSU game from a 1 point loss to a 1 point win.

Should've been a blowout. We stunk it up big-time at the end of each half, let them get back in it and make the final score respectable. But good to see Cottle rebound. If he and Wooley are on against MTSU, we win. If not, pretty good chance we lose.

Took a quick look at the ASun standings. Men's has a 5 way tie for first with 8-3 records. No change in the women's; FGCU 11-0/20-3. Of course all the players are Smesko's.

Another sub 30% night from 3 with a "perfect" 0% if your name isn't Wolley or Cottle. And a stupid timeout with 10 seconds left.

And speaking of stupid...after the game I switched to UGA and watched as UGA down by 3 drive to the basket and get fouled with 8 seconds left.

Didn't get to watch Saturday. But when you see a stat line where your team wins the turnover and rebound battle, you usually expect a win. Surprisingly one of the least amount of 3pt attempts on the year but we still shot it at a bad rate. Figured with Weir out, we'd rely on it even more. With Cottle in foul trouble, we needed someone to step up, but no on could it looks like.

This team is frustrating because we see how good they CAN be. If we can hold onto a top 6 seed for the conference tournament, I'd call this season a success. Much more to still do. Hopefully at least split the upcoming road trip.

GO-OW15

I feel like the owls look so much better attacking the basket which makes me wonder if leaving Seals and Sherman on the court longer would lead to a more efficient offense. With the play of Gordon and Weir recently I feel like we really can do well in the tournament if we could get anything from Miller/Wright/Heard.
