We Are Not Getting the Football Ops Building We Where Expecting

BOR documents came out 2 weeks ago that said that KSU football ops will be moving into an office building that was built in 1988. This is different from the original design that is on KSU's website. Originally KSU wanted to build a football ops building from the ground up. Now the sports performance building will be in a new building and football ops will be in a old office building. This is really frustrating! Everything with our football program has been temporary. We play in a minor leagued soccer stadium, our football Ops will be in a office building from 1988, we still share practice fields with club sports, our stadium press box is a temporary structure. We still have start up facilities and we are still thinking like a start up program but it has been over 10 years. KSU, we are not a start up anymore. When are we going to stop using temporary solutions to permanent problems? KSU fans we need to talk about this and let the AD and the school know that this is not cool!

I have seen several stories on my feed about the new football stadium for Buford High School. It looks nicer than the Bank.

I've probably seen the same articles about the Buford High School football stadium. $62 million for a football stadium at a public high school -- if I lived in Gwinnett County I'd be livid. Absolutely ridiculous.

Buford being a city school allows them to operate differently from the other Gwinnett schools but it shows how important community investment can be. With the money KSU is having to put towards housing it will likely take another big donation to get a football stadium expansion started which may be the goal once we have a break from hosting major soccer teams in the summer. With a new basketball arena likely costing 80+ million and football being 30+ million we may have to go the James Madison route and charge massive athletics fees too.

GO-OW15 may have to charge massive athletic fees? The programs are already mostly supported by fees. I really hope they don't put more of the burden of paying for athletics onto students. I'm not surprised or outraged if we don't have great facilities anytime soon. I didn't expect this to be a particularly successful fbs program.

Excited for this season though. I think we'll be less bad than last year.

Hootyhoo I agree with you on fees I was just thinking through what it would take to get the new facilities other people have suggested we need to ve taken more seriously. Our facilities were good enough to take down Rutgers in basketball and Liberty in football which is good enough for me. I think Football has a real shot at 6 wins and with an improved pass rush we should have the leagues best defense.

GO-OW15 Yes we could beat Liberty once in a blue moon, however, we don't have the facilities to beat high profile teams consistently and win CUSA consistently.

The problem is that all of KSU's football facilities are temporary. KSU never built permanent foundational facilities for football. This shows a lack of investment into the football program, which hurts recruiting and perception.

Building the facilities we need takes private and Public Partnerships. That is usually how stadiums and massive facilities are built. Theoretically Cobb County is one of the richest counties in Georgia, therefore, they could honestly build a stadium/arena for the school. They could increase revenue by hosting other non-athletic events at these venues. The problem is that Cobb County does not invest nor care about KSU and only uses KSU for there benefit.
