I went to Mickey Dunn Stadium Saturday for the game against Samford. Here is my review:
The seats: I splurged and got seats that had chairs instead of bleachers. The chairs were quite comfortable. I don’t think I can go back to bleachers now. My seat was in the last row with my back to the concourse. Although it wasn’t a particularly windy day there was often good breeze coming against my back. On ESPN+, Trey calls this the wind tunnel. The wind is channeled through the open concourse below the press box and above the ground level section of the stadium. This may help fly balls travel further.
The sight lines were unobstructed and the breezyness will keep the fans comfortable on a hot afternoon. A good portion of the seats were in the shade in the early to mid afternoon, generally in the center sections.
The concessions: There is a main concession stand a few movable carts along the concourse. The only place to get something warm was at the main stand. The all beef hot dog was sizable and a decent offering, but a bit pricey.
Restrooms: I noticed 3, one on each end of the concourse and one at the entry. The one I used was not all that large so I wonder they would be taxed with a capacity crowd.
Overall, a huge upgrade from the Shake. You maintain the intimate feel of a small stadium with much greater fan comfort.
