I just read an article in The Athletic which reports that the NCAA is looking at Nov. 25 (preferably) or Dec. 4 to start the basketball season. (The original start date for the season was Nov. 10.) The thinking behind these dates is that most colleges will be sending students home before the Thanksgiving holiday and they will not return to campus until the start of the Spring semester in January -- thus providing a sort of "bubble" for the athletes during this time.
In another thread back in June I said that I thot the season would be cancelled. I still believe that it should be and I hope that it is. Unfortunately, it's clear from football (as I write this some conferences are still planning to play) that some universities and conferences put money ahead of the health of their student athletes -- and the other students and the communities in which they interact with -- so I guess we'll see how this all plays out.
There is one thing I am positive about. I've been attending KSU basketball -- both men and women -- since 2000. I've been a men's season ticket holder since the 2013-14 season. I was planning on also getting a women's season ticket this year. That streak ends this year. I still believe the season will be cancelled. If they attempt to play -- and have fans -- I won't be there. It's not safe for the athletes. And it's not safe for the spectators.
