So after four games I started to look ahead.
Our team is very athletic and long (for a low major), plays hard, and is proving consistent. Looking ahead with what we can see at this time, our schedule is easy as hell (Note: so is Liberty's).
While it's true the league is much better than last year, it's also appearing top heavy. If you asked most people who follow the league for their top 5 now, I feel most would say Liberty, KSU, JU, FGCU, and Stetson without too much deviation. We play all those teams just ONCE and obviously can't play ourselves ๐คช. (Side Note: I put EKU in my tier with Stetson earlier on a Tweet. Mostly a hunch because a good rule of thumb is never trust Stetson and I liked what I saw from EKU against KSU last week. We'll find out about my hunch tomorrow when they play Liberty. Also, Stetson is 4-0 in ASUN.)
The consistent KSU play so far and easy schedule means that we have a real chance to rack up A LOT of wins vs. the shitty and medium-bad teams just by being bullies AKA being bigger, faster, stronger. There are 3 teams that I'd call bottom tier right now, and those are UNA, UCA, JSU. We already have a win vs. UCA and get four more to come vs. those squads. That's 1 more game vs. 280 NET, 2 vs. 300-310 and 1 vs. 325. That's 4 more wins right here for the taking.
If we take care of business vs. the garbage tier at 4-0 the rest of the way, and then go a very conservative pessimistic 3-3 vs. the middle tier of Lipscomb, Queens, UNF, Bellarmine and Peay, EKU (with 4/6 at home), then that is a 10-4 record with 4 more chances for wins vs. Stetson, FGCU, JU, and Liberty.
All we have to do is not choke and we are looking at a 20 win season.ย
