I was pulling for Coach Ben Fletcher or Pershin Williams, but I am happy with the hire. Okay, we may have lost that donor, but we will gain many more donors. Coach Pettway is someone respected among the high school basketball circle community that many coaches are excited to see.
Although based in Alabama, Coach Pettway has been a frequent visitor to the Atlanta area, including Pebblebrook High School here in Cobb County. He is extremely well respected among the Alabama fan base, if you know the Auburn and Alabama fan bases, they are a strong and passionate base, and the only complaint they have is that they hate to loose him. Maybe that Alabama crowd can come to the CUSA tourney games in Huntsville in 2025 to support KSU because of Pettway, plus we have a large Alabama alumni here, many of whom follow the success of their players, throughout their careers.
Coach Pettway is among the nation's top recruiters, it will be great to observe his first recruiting class he can bring right away. He was long overdue for a HC position and is a stronger candidate now than he was in 2019, when he interviewed for the KSU HC position then. The fact that he has remained interested in this position, after four years have passed. Part of it is because of the relationship with MO. It is a great hire and I am looking forward to the upcoming seasons ahead.
