This was a tough one to watch. I think going foward giving another QB a shot will go a long way in setting up for next year. Besides missing field goals and the issues at offensive line the owls have been in every game so far. I was impressed by the defense through most of the game since it seemed like they were always on the field in the second half. My hope is they really air it out early the rest of the way.

The transition from FCS to FBS is going to be worse than the basketball transition from D2 to D1.

My guess is Bo has a plan or at least hope he does. He's a smart dude but I'm sure he may need to start making adjustments to that plan for his own good. There are a few position coaches that need to go in order to compete at the FBS level. He had to replace two Coordinators and he simply couldn't replace the position coaches during the same time. He needs athletes that can run and catch, OL that are bigger and he needs QBs that can sling it 50 times a game if needed. He won't be able to recruit or keep these types of players with the staff he has now.

He should also start playing some of these younger kids that he will depend on in the coming years. Lots of redshirt freshman haven't touched the field yet and they are some of the more talented kids on the team. He's got some electric skill kids that haven't sniffed the field yet. Go watch their HS film if you have any doubts. Only thing they are lacking is experience. The portal has changed the game for good and bad. This could be really bad if he doesn't handle these next few weeks correctly.

We weren't ready to move to FBS. This doesn't set anyone up for success. The changes were being made due to the new rules. We at least should have had time to make some progress with the new system before jumping to FBS.

Ready or not....the Owls are in flight to Conference USA and there is nothing anyone of us can do about except complain. And that's not going to do any good. Go Owls, do the best you can do.

It could be argued Saturday’s loss may be the worst in program history. Tennessee Tech came into the game scoring nine points per game, allowing 40 and was averaging only 89 yards rushing per game. Against the Owls, the Golden Eagles ran for 224. They had been allowing 222 yards per game on the ground, but they held KSU to a program low 96. It is the second time this season the Owls have been to a new program worst rushing effort.

Just listened to the podcast. Great as always, thanks to you guys for making it. But I'm gonna use this post to talk back to the show a little especially since the pod got me back in my feelings about the loss.

The offense essentially being outlawed set this program back and that was totally out of bo's control. Deciding to do the redshirt game is great, if we still win games. But we're not and it was a decision he made. I think it's fair to criticize that when it results in possibly the worst loss in program history.

I mentioned last week I hoped to see klenakis try and change up a little bit to simulate a run game since we aren't getting it done up front. During the game, I kinda liked that he didn't and wants to just rep an Identity to establish it for the future. But then we lost and I like that attitude alot less now. Especially considering, we're going to be outmatched up front next year too even if we are healthier. We need to find ways to stay on schedule despite that.

Trey mentioned something along the lines of "the bo I know makes whatever decision that helps win today." If Bo's actions and what he empowers the OC to do is antithetical to through a year of losing, can you hit the switch and turn it back on next year? If he's going to message that winning matters, and his actions don't reflect that, it's got to be really difficult for players to stay bought in.

Has bo spoiled me as a fan? Absolutely. The statue one of y'all mentioned feels like a bit much so far, but when we start a ring of honor or whatever he's in it day 1 even if he loses out and goes winless next year. He built this program and deserves all of the flowers for it. But when he's losing games, it's fair to criticize him. And if he wins 4 or 5 games next year, I'll be right be defending him. But this foundation feels shaky after losing to tenn tech.

Also, thank you Kai! I feel like I'm yelling at clouds since the COVID spring season wanting touches for Preston Daniels. Every time he touches the ball, we stay on schedule. It was great to hear Kai harp on that for a second.

I can't decide how I feel. I feel like we should be better this year as we transition to FBS but I get we're transitioning our whole offense and trying to hold guys back for extra eligibility for FBS.

With that, Next year isn't feeling great. I am hoping we get a few wins and are relatively competitive but I'm not sure about that so far from what we've seen this season.

I think we are being a little heavy on the doom and gloom. With the way we are redshirting, we are outnumbered in depth against all the FCS schools we will play. Add a few injuries, and we are severely handicapped. Bo and staff have a plan, and while he will attempt to win every game, they aren't going to sacrifice the plan for the sake of 100% meaningless games this year. We just have to accept that. Basically, this entire year is the equivalent of NFL pre-season. Winning is secondary. As a fan, it's tough to accept. But in a couple of years, we will all be happy they stuck with the process.

I fully expect will hit the transfer portal hard this off-season. We will be looking for size and depth on both lines of scrimmage. We should be an attractive destination with immediate opportunities to play for guys that are blocked at their current schools.

My only real complaint with the coaching staff is not getting Bryson some time at QB, but I think we will see that happen soon. To add, after this week, we can play any of the freshman in the final 4 games and still maintain their redshirts. So, we could see a lot of new faces over the last 4 weeks.

As far as next year goes, I think we will be okay. We obviously aren't going to come in and dominate, but we will be competitive and every game will represent a new first for the program. It should be fun even as we go through our growing pains.

I really hope we see Bryson soon though. I think that kid just has it and is the better QB to run the RPO.

Also like to add switching away from an triple option is incredibly difficult. A lot of guys were recruited to run a very niche offense. For example, the offensive lineman we recruited were smaller because in the triple option, it's more about speed and cut blocking.

Jax State and Sam Houston looked better in their transition year because they didn't have to completely transform an entire offense from nearly top to bottom.

If this was even just year 2 of our new offense, there's a very good chance we'd be undefeated right now. With all the injuries, redshirting, new offense learning adjustments and zero consistency in our lineups...we've been in every game and in all have had opportunities to win.

It's going to take a couple years, but we'll get there.
