2-1 after opening weekend against New Orleans. Long Island coming to the shake this weekend.

Solid opening start. A lot more bats this year, so the same guys wont be out there every day. We have the ability to mix and match.

A lot of the new arms were solid this weekend, i dont know what happened with the d2 guy who started friday but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now and say bad weather affected him

chandler-wright It was just one of those days I think so maybe the weather didn't help but he's from up north. If anything, I would have expected him to be a strike thrower and I think we will see that this week

KingOwlLegacy yeah that’s what I was thinking because it was brutal Friday at the game, but he was really only missing low so maybe just couldn’t get a good grip on it

owlsportscontent Friday was his 8th D1 start. He played for George Mason before going D2 last season. First start with us though, in a new environment, of course.

Good start to the season taking 2 of 3 from a solid program. We have some question marks, but there's reason to believe we're gonna be able to build off last season's success. Long Island is next, they were an NCAA team last year, but it looks like they might've lost a lot from that team, as they were swept by Winthrop over the weekend. We'll see soon enough.

I like our schedule too. A lot of big-name schools coming to the Shake this year.

The Owls swept Long Island. Gave up a lot of runs though. Still a lot of kinks to be worked out. Tech is next on Wednesday. They'll play Long Island the day before we head over there.

BurialGround Friday was a good game pitching wise. Saturday we got a good game from Wehunt and then gave up 15 runs garbage time, the bullpen decided to go on vacation. Sunday was young pitchers and an error (actually two, but I dont think the second should have been).

Freshman report: Aita looked great through 3 sunday before they got to him. Franklin looked great Saturday for the first 2/3 and then gave up a homer. Osbolt had a rough outing compared to last week. Agyei pitched an excellent inning on Friday in his debut. Sliver only came in Saturday for one out to settle things down after the 10 unanswered runs.

Chirello and Brooks have been pretty solid. A little inconsistency but thats expected and both look great for where they are. Defensively Mimbs has really struggled, especially at SS. Chirello made an SCTop10 caliber play today at third. Knowles can lock down SS for every day if he can hit enough. We were spoiled by Tyler Simon.

The C-section has been great offensively- Corbin, Colina, Cash, Chirello

Wingman

It reminds me of last year. The Owls give up a lot of runs, but most of the time they outscore the opponent. This got them to the NCAA tourney last year. Buckle up it may be a wild ride.

KingOwlLegacy I think with the team direction, that I understand, of recruiting higher level freshman talent and building a strong team from the bottom up, we will see some growing pains. I like the philosophy behind it. But, there is generally still an adjustment to be made from the high school game to the college level. The only way to make those freshman more valuable by conference time, is to give them playing time. We lost some big players from last year for sure! And, those are going to be some big shoes to fill, offensively and defensively! No doubt, we are up to it...just going to take a minute. And in Mimbs defense, he has been moved around the infield, every position has a slightly different approach. Granted he may have made some errors, but likewise, he made some huge plays too! I'm excited to see how this team matures and gels over the next two or three months. Go Owls!

MumsTheWord agree 100% with all that. Mimbs turned a solid double play and has been swinging well. The freshmen pitchers should start to show progress by conference play. It's very rare to see freshmen especially pitchers come in and dominate from day one. They just need confidence and to get comfortable.

A sweep of Jacksonville U this weekend leaves the Owls tied for 5th in the conference standings (8 teams make the ASUN tournament). Perhaps more important is the RPI which determines the conference seeding. The Owls are 3rd in RPI.
3 series remain; 2 are against top ASUN teams FGCU and Lipscomb. If the Owls can finish strong they can secure a good position in the tournament.

Wingman Yes sir. What KSU needs to do:

-Win 2 of 3 vs. Lipscomb, Sweep UNA, assess the situation and determine best strategy vs. FGCU with tourney just days later.
-Pull hard for Queens, UNA, FGCU, and Bellarmine in all their matchups. These teams winning can only help us in the standings.
-Root against Liberty so they finish outside the Top 8

KingOwl The funny thing about Liberty is they are 2nd in the conference in RPI, while in a 4-way tie for 7th place in the standings. So they will get a good seed IF they make the ASUN tournament, but they may not make it.

Wingman lol precisely, very weird situation. I wonder what their RPI would be if they won all their midweeks and lost all their conference games
