2025 Basketball Offseason

TheKid

Looks like we got Davin Cosby from Wake Forest.

TheKid

Kmase14 Louisville is about to take over the ACC (except Duke). Great coach.

I read -- but have no idea how accurate this is -- that Louisville has an $8-$10 million NIL budget. Another article put Wooleys estimated NIL value (this was before he signed) in the high 6 figures. Maybe true, maybe not.

GO-OW15

With Perry Jr added that takes us to 13 right? If the post on twitter was real with Cunningham (Alabama transfer) visiting virtually that would potentially be 14 out of 15 available spots. I wonder if a couple of the freshmen guards will be redshirted as a result.

Nice article today in The Athletic about AAR. I'd post a link but it's behind a paywall.

TheKid

One thing is obvious, Pettway can find some talent. Owls should be interesting next year. If you look at the other teams in CUSA, there are a lot of quality players in the portal. I'm surprised how many we've retained so far, but considering the incoming class and transfers, the roster looks very good. Still need another big? There's also a few guys that frankly might want to move on.

UConn vs SC should be a good one.

Thats 14/15 scholarship spots as it sits right now. I'm still under the impression Weir is OUT, bringing us down to 13/15 (if KSU uses all 15 scholarships). 2 open spots, could still use another big man.

Walk on Update: Eric Holland has officially entered the portal, leaving Chuck Stone and Dozie Onyirimba as the 2 walk ons remaining.

GO-OW15

Kmase14 Thanks for that! It helps to see the roster put together. I would like to see us reach out to Josh Hill (Arkansas state/wheeler hs alum) given he most recently played under a former Nate Oats assistant and has size (6'11).

The computer guys (Pomeroy and Massey) have Houston as the favorite.

The wise guys (Vegas) has Florida as the favorite.

We'll see.

In The Athletics way too early 2025-26 college basketball rankings Louisiville is ranked number 4. Wooley is not a projected starter (Pettway said that might happen) although they say that he is getting "NBA buzz." The projected starters include 2 other transfers and a freshman.

OWLSnDEACS

TheKid I'm a Wake Forest graduate so I watch all of their games. Cosby's a good shooter but has some defensive lapses that landed him in the coaches doghouse. Can be instant offense though, and he has + size for the C-USA. Hope he's a good fit with Pettaway and am excited to watch him for KSU.

The last player we got from Wake didn't live up to the hype coming out of high school.

GO-OW15

I think Cosby and Smith will be solid additions I just hope Seals, Johnson, and Miller can become consistent contributers on the offensive end with another Summer in the Pettway system.

GO-OW15

With Kaden Rickard in the team I am liking where our roster sits compared to our conference foes. I think WKU and Liberty are the teams in the best shape outside of the Owls. It will be interesting to see what additions are made in the next couple of weeks.

Kmase14

Has there been any schedule or MTE announcements / leaks for next season yet? Been seeing a lot for other teams lately.

bb_fan

Chris Youngblood (undrafted) signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the OKC Thunder today. He'll play in the summer league and then compete for a spot in the G League in training camp.

GO-OW15

I am shocked we have not heard more about the schedule for the 25-26 season since we are getting close to when it was posted for last year. I am still hoping we get an MTE and some solid mid majors to round things out.

Wingman

I found that an updated roster posted on Facebook as well as KSUowls.com. I copied and modified Kmase14's list from above to reflect the changes.

Returning Scholarship Players -
Simeon Cottle - 6'2 - G
RJ Johnson - 6'6 - G
Jamil Miller - 6'6 - G
Ramone Seals - 6'6 - G
Franquon Sherman - 6'7 - F
Braeden Lue - 6'8 - F

Incoming Freshmen -
Brendan Tousignaut - 6'5 - G
Darius Washington III - 6'5 - G
Nigel Thomas - 6'7 - G
Amir Taylor - 6'8 - F
Trey Simpson - 6'7 F
Kaden Rickard - 6'6 G from Madison, AL - this player had not been on my radar - perhaps a late addition

Incoming Transfer Portal -
Davin Gosby - 6'5 G (this player showed up on the Facebook post, but not on the roster on KSUowls.com)
Perry Smith Jr. - 6'9 F

Walk-ons
Chase Clemons (I think he is a walk on, I didn't think he was returning)
Eric Holland (He was in the transfer portal, but decided to come back)
Chuck Stone
Dozie Onyirimba

Transferred out -
Adrian Wooley - 6'5 - G to Louisville
Rickey McKenzie - 6'4 - G to Marist
Mekhi Turner - 6'8 - F to Tenn. Tech

Not Returning -
Andew Weir (I was hoping to see him on the team this year, I am sorry it didn't work out)

That gives us 14 Scholarship players (I assume the freshman Rickard has a scholly) and 4 walk-ons on a robust roster of 18.

FWIW I use this to monitor MTE's. Still nothing for KSU (and 8 of the 12 CUSA teams).
